Porcelain was first fired in Japan over 400 years ago. Starting with dyeing, all types and techniques of porcelain were tried, including colored painting, gold brocade, and celadon. This is the history of Arita pottery, and also the history of Japanese porcelain. The passion and technology of our predecessors continues to be passed down to the present day.
Nowadays, ware fired in Arita is called Arita ware, and ware fired in Imari is called Imari ware. However, Ko-Imari is not baked in Imari. Pottery made before around 1650 is called Ko-Imari（Old Imari ）.
